About Us

Abel Gonzales, is the managing member of EdVisors of Texas, LLC. He is a first generation college student, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Abel Gonzales is passionate in growing educational access. Throughout his 24-year career across education, he has served in leadership capacities ranging from public school teacher and coach to student advocate and director. Currently, as Director of Instructional Outreach Programs at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Dr. Gonzales develops and refines academic programs and partnerships focused on increasing college access, readiness and establishing instructional pathways for high school aged students. Previously, he served as Dual Credit and Early College High School Director (2010-2014), Title V STEM Director (2011-2014) and Gateway to College Director (2008-2014) at his alma mater, Palo Alto College. Determined to increase the success rates for community college transfer students, Dr. Gonzales continues to advocate for under-served student populations. Additionally, Dr. Gonzales focuses his research efforts on developing and sustaining academic pathways focused on dual credit and community college transfer populations.

Dr. Gonzales grew up in south San Antonio and proudly graduated from a community college. He recently earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from UTSA, while also holding a Master of Science in Educational Administration, Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas A&M University – Kingsville, and an Associate of Science from Palo Alto College.
